No-Mess Craft from FIT4MOM North Metro Denver
Easy Paper Plate Fall Wreath for Kids
Fall in Colorado is gorgeous, and somehow it’s already November. After Stroller Strides, our FIT4MOM North Metro Denver moms and kiddos are making fall wreaths together, and I wanted everyone to be able to do it, even if you can’t make it to class.
It’s an easy-to-make paper plate wreath. There’s no paint and no big mess, and you probably already have everything in your house. It’s also a good way to get a little one sitting and crafting while you sip your coffee and enjoy a quiet(ish) ten minutes.
Supplies You'll Need:
- Paper plates (one per kiddo)
- Printable leaf page
- Colored construction paper if you want to cut your own leaves
- Crayons
- Glue or tape
- Scissors
How to make it:
- Prep the plate. Cut out the center of the paper plate so you have a ring. This is the wreath base. (This is a grown-up job. Do it while they’re busy with step 2.)
- Make the leaves. Download and print our leaf page. Your kiddo can color the leaves with crayons, or you can print them on colored paper to skip the coloring. Grown-ups cut them out (little hands can help tear and sort).
- Color the plate. Let your little one color the paper plate ring in whatever fall colors they want. There are no rules here.
- Glue it on. Help them glue or tape the leaves around the ring. Overlapping looks great, and so does a little chaos.
- Hang it up. Poke a hole at the top, add a loop of string or ribbon, and put it on the door, the fridge, or grandma’s wall.
Mom Tips:
- Cut the leaves ahead of time so nap-length crafting time goes further.
- Toddlers can do big chunky leaves. Preschoolers can handle smaller ones and more detail.
- Want to stretch it out? Do a leaf hunt on your walk first and use what you find.
Why we do this at FIT4MOM
Stroller Strides is a full-body workout you do with your kids, and it’s also where a lot of us found our mom friends. When class ends, nobody wants to rush off. Crafts like this are one of the ways we keep that going: the kids play, the moms talk, and no one feels like they’re doing motherhood alone.
FIT4MOM North Metro Denver serves moms in Broomfield, Lafayette, Westminster, Louisville, and surrounding areas. We have stroller workouts, mom-only classes, and run club for every stage of motherhood, from your pregnancy to your first months postpartum to when your kiddos are in school. You don’t need to be “in shape” to come. You just need to show up.
