February 2023 Mom of the Month

BRI S.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY!

My family is my husband Troy, my 1 year old son Henry, and our two super fluffy cats Artemis and Apollo.

WHERE ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM?

I grew up in Broomfield.

WHAT IS/WAS YOUR CAREER?

I'm currently working part time as a senior software engineer at Splunk. We make data analytics software.

HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT FIT4MOM AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER?

I was referred to FIT4MOM by Jillian. I started FIT4BABY when I was pregnant with Henry. So about a year and a half now.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT FIT4MOM?

My favorite part of FIT4MOM is getting to meet and make friends with other moms. Most of my friends from college and work haven't had kids yet. And that made me feel a bit lonely as a new mom. Having other moms to talk with and share experiences and vent to helps a ton.

WHAT HAS INSPIRED YOU THE MOST SINCE BEING A PART OF FIT4MOM?

The thing that's inspired me the most since joining FIT4MOM is how hard everyone works at the workouts. It inspires me to work hard and challenge myself to get better.

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT HAS SURPRISED YOU ABOUT MOTHERHOOD?

Something that surprised me about motherhood is how fast Henry has grown. Even looking at pictures from a month or two ago he looks so different. And how fast he picks up new skills and abilities.

WHAT ARE 3 OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS?

Baking is my favorite hobby, I love making treats for family and friends. I just hope I'll have more time to do that this year! Playing board games is another big hobby for me. I'm so excited to play with Henry when he's older. And workouts are another favorite activity for me. It's so nice to get some time for me to just focus on myself and focus on the moment.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMMY MOMENT SO FAR?

My proudest mommy moment was when Henry started walking a couple weeks ago. He's so excited about it and now loves to walk everywhere and he's so good at catching himself when he falls.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEW MOTHER?

My advice would be to sleep in shifts with your partner if you can. It's so much easier to handle everything a baby can throw at you when you're rested.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO ADD?

I really love working part time. It gives me more time with Henry but I also get some time to talk with other adults and think deeply about complex problems and systems. It's a great balance for me.
