January 2021 Mom of the Month

ABBY H.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY!

My husband and I met in high school and got married in 2016. We grew up in California, moved to Massachusetts for school, and are excited to be raising our family in Colorado. We welcomed our first baby in 2019 and are expecting a new addition in 2021. Bringing home our daughter was the best thing to happen to us.

WHERE ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM?

Bakersfield, CA

WHAT IS/WAS YOUR CAREER?

I was a human resources professional for a start up in Boston before our daughter was born. I'm fortunate to be a stay at home mama now.

HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT FIT4MOM AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER?

We didn't know anyone in Colorado when we were preparing to move here and our daughter was almost four months old. Knowing I would be a stay at home mama, I thought I needed to find a way to connect with others to not get isolated in this new place. So, I googled mommy and me activities in the area and found Fit4Mom. It was affordable and looked like a great thing to do after moving to Colorado. I attended my first class a few days after moving and joined at the next class, in early June 2019.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT FIT4MOM?

The best part of Fit4Mom has been the connection with other mamas and watching my daughter grow and play with other kids.

WHAT HAS INSPIRED YOU THE MOST SINCE BEING A PART OF FIT4MOM?

I have been so inspired by how healthy and fit I could be with the motivation of other mamas, fun exercise classes, and some extra time at home to prepare healthy food for our family.

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT HAS SURPRISED YOU ABOUT MOTHERHOOD?

How it would impact my relationship with my spouse.

WHAT ARE 3 OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS?

Cold brew coffee, pudding, and my family

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMMY MOMENT SO FAR?

When my daughter is polite and loving, like when she tells her stuffed animal she will always love them or when she says thank you without prompting.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEW MOTHER?

Trust yourself and your baby and know that whatever is happening is probably more normal than it seems. Babies are really resilient and so are you - you will (most likely) both be okay.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO ADD?

Being a mama has been such a wonderful experience and I'm grateful to have met a group of other mamas to be a part of this journey with me.
