September 2022 Mom of the Month

EMILY B.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY!

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Steven, and we recently celebrated 8 years of marriage. We have two wonderful kiddos - Dani who is 6 and Will who is 2. They are my pride and joy! We also have a dog named Oakley (or Bud Bud) and a cat named Benji. They are both about 8 years old.

WHERE ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM?

I am a Colorado native and grew up in Parker.

WHAT IS/WAS YOUR CAREER?

I have a History/Secondary education degree, but never used it after student teaching. Before having kiddos, I was a new account representative and teller at a bank.

HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT FIT4MOM AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER?

I found out through Megan Garrett. Our kiddos went to pre-k together, and she got me to come to my first workout in the rain almost 4 months ago. Never looked back.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT FIT4MOM?

So many things! The community is amazing. I haven’t even been a part of Fit4Mom for that long, and I feel more than welcome. Everybody is just so kind! I love that I can do something for myself, but also have my youngest make new friends and get some energy out at the park! Last, I love that I get to show my kids that having an active lifestyle is important. I haven't always been the most active person, and it has already been such a gift in the past 4 months!

WHAT HAS INSPIRED YOU THE MOST SINCE BEING A PART OF FIT4MOM?

The support from all the moms. It’s an amazing community!

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT HAS SURPRISED YOU ABOUT MOTHERHOOD?

How much help you really need. I’ve always been a person who likes to do things by themselves, and I have a hard time asking for help…but motherhood is hard and it’s okay to ask for help.

WHAT ARE 3 OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS?

Crocheting, spending quality time with family especially my husband and kids, trying new experiences.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMMY MOMENT SO FAR?

SO MANY! I just love watching my kids grow into themselves. They are so independent, outgoing, and brave. I love when they learn new things, and I love that new things don’t stop. It just goes from first steps to riding a bike to learning how to read. There is always something to be proud of. It’s awesome!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEW MOTHER?

Give yourself grace. It’s one of the hardest things to do. I don’t even give myself grace most days, but we are all doing the best we can with what we know, and our kids are all pretty amazing!
